  • Smash N Survive (PSN) Review

2 CommentsPosted by on June 27, 2012 under Playstation, PS3 Reviews
When I sat down to review Version2Games’ PSN downloadable Car Combat game Smash ‘N’ Survive, I simply was not prepared to partake in the worst game I have played in a long while. Smash ‘N’ Survive could easily fit into the car combat category alongside Twisted Metal, BLUR, Split/Second and even Mario Kart... But I am afraid those games are comparable only by genre. ‘SNS’ fails to del... more.

Sports Champions is one of the few launch games for the Playstation Move and is essentially Sony’s version of Wii Sports. The Move controller certainly has plenty of potential and would seem perfectly suited to sports games. In order to be successful it must be accurate, it must be intuitive and above all it has to be fun. Sports Champions has made a good crack at it and although not completely ... more.
  • Stacking (PSN) Review

Stacking is another new game from Tim Schafer’s Double Fine Productions. True to what can be expected of the developers who gave us Psychonauts, Brutal Legend, and Costume Quest, the game is about Matryoshka or Russian stacking dolls. But does this budget title still hold the spark that has made Schafer and his company an industry standout or is it a hollow shell inside trying to convince us oth... more.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 is the follow up to the original released in 2008. The first game was set in the Stars Wars universe between episodes III and IV. It told the story of Starkiller, Darth Vader's secret apprentice, and told an engaging story which integrated into the movies well. Although a few cool engines were used for destruction , interaction with the environment and enemy moveme... more.

Described as “the spiritual successor” to the 2007 game Warhawk, at least when going by Wikipedia, Starhawk has a couple of things in common with titles as varied as God of War, Twisted Metal and Carnival Island, production-wise. First, it’s a PS3 exclusive, and second, Santa Monica Studio was part of the development team. Aside from that, the game stands quite comfortably on its own. GAM... more.

A year after Capcom’s smash reboot of the Street Fighter franchise, Super Street Fighter IV is released on the 29th April on XBOX360 and Playstation 3. Building upon the success that was Street Fighter IV last year, Super Street Fighter IV follows in Capcom’s tradition of releasing small revamps, starting from the multiple iterations of Street Fighter II, then the Alpha series and finally with... more.

In 2001, a development team now known as Team ICO released a game on the Playstation 2 of the same name. It was a global success and hailed as one of gaming's first true contributions to high art and interactive storytelling. In 2005, the same team released Shadow of the Colossus, and lightning struck twice. It was universally acclaimed and managed to bring this particular writer to tears by the t... more.
  • The Shoot Playstation 3 Review

The Shoot is one of the few titles to come out exclusively for the PS3 utilising the Move. The name is a play on words as you shoot objects on a Hollywood style movie set to shoot the scene. Rail shooters are nothing new and have proved popular in arcades over the years. Time Crisis and Point Blank enjoyed some success on the PS2 in the late 90's with a light gun, and this game has, on the surface... more.

I can’t imagine how difficult it is as a developer to create a game that pushes boundaries, goes outside the box and gives gamers new experiences. We as consumers are a demanding lot, and pretty critical, but merit is also given when it is deserved. The Unfinished Swan is a game from little known developers Giant Sparrow who have created something truly unique, an interactive fairytale whose sim... more.
